There are two relevant types of visas that permit entry to the country: business visas and visitor visas. These have distinct eligibility criteria, require differing levels of documentation and permit a holder to do different things during their time in the country.
Business visas
These visas are special permits issued to company employees, entrepreneurs, investors and businesspeople. They cost QR 200, are single entry and valid for 90 consecutive days of stay.
To obtain this type of visa, an applicant must have:
- A passport with at least six months of validity left.
- A copy of an ID card from a sponsor company, which must have an established base in the country. Hyphen team will provide it for engagements offered through us.
- A completed business visa application form.
Visitor visas
You might not even need a visa to enter Qatar if you are just visiting. Nationals from 102 countries all over the world, listed on the Visit Qatar website, can access the country as a visitor without a visa for a predetermined amount of time. If you are from a country not on that list, you can apply for an e-visa using Hayya, Qatar's online visa and visitor registration platform.
There are three types of visitor visa (listed below), all of which cost QR 100, are single entry, non-refundable, non-transferable and require the holder to have a valid outbound flight.
- Visa A1 type - Tourist visa available to all nationalities.
- Visa A2 type - Designed for GCC residents.
- Visa A3 type - For individuals holding valid visas or residence permits from the US, the UK, Canada, the Schengen area, Australia or New Zealand (regardless of nationality).
These allow the holder – who must also have at least three months on their passport and verified accommodation – to stay in Qatar for up to 30 days.
A full overview of visa types and services available can be found on the Qatari Ministry of Interior’s official website.
